FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

 

Q.        What is the church membership?

A.        We have approximately 750 members.

 

Q.        When was Galilee founded?

A.        Our church was founded in 1954.

 

Q.        How many services do we have?

A.        We have two Sunday Morning Services.

 

Q.        What time are services?

A.        Sunday services are 8:00a.m. & 10:45a.m.

 

Q.        When do we have Bible Study?

A.        Tuesday night at 7:00p.m.  Wednesday at 12:00 noon and Wednesday at 6:30p.m.

 

Q.        Are our facilities accessible for people with disabilities?

A.        Galilee is on one level and we offer valet and handicapped spaces for persons with disabilities.

 

Q.        Do we have to dress up?

A.        No, we encourage people to dress appropriately for Worship Services.  For some that may mean dressing up or simply means wearing casual clothes.  We simply ask that you dress modestly and decently.  We want you to come, be comfortable, and enjoy learning about God together.

 

Q.        How can I get a copy of the sermon?

A.        All messages are  available on CD and audio cassette immediately following the Worship Service.  DVDs will be available by order request; order forms are located in the vestibule area. You may also submit an online request form via this website.  Past sermons/series, are available.

 

Q.        How does our church help those in need?

A.        Galilee Missionary Baptist Church is committed to community transformation.  We extend ourselves to the community by providing a Food Pantry, Prison Outreach (local and Davidson County), Community Outreach Day (emphasis on evangelism, fellowship and fun), Clothes Give-away, Thanksgiving Dinner distribution, financial support of numerous local agencies and social services.  Members volunteer at The Samaritan Soup Kitchen and Crisis Control.  We provide a scholarship to a Carver High School senior. Our goal is to be a light in the community.  Members in the church may receive, upon request and documentation, financial assistance.

 

Q.        Do we have a nursery or provide any childcare services?

A.        The Church Nursery is located in the Galilee Annex.  It exists to serve parents with children from infants through age five during Worship Services, Revivals and selected programs.  Your child will be in a secured area and cared for by Members of the Nursery Ministry

Q.        Why are New Beginnings Classes required of new members?

A.        We believe that it is our responsibility to arm all Members with information that will assist them in becoming disciples.  The classes are designed so that New Members follow three pathways; New Converts, Watch Care, Christian experience and Restoration.  The curriculum reflects the spiritual needs of the Members in each pathway.  This information coupled with information that every Member should possess.

 

Q.        Is there a waiting period before I can join a ministry?

A.        Members should complete the New Beginning classes before they unite with a Ministry.

 

Q.        Are there ministries that I can not just join?

A.        One can not join the Associate Ministers, Deacons, Deaconess, and Trustee Ministries.

 

Q.        May I attend a ministry meeting if I only want to receive more information before I make a decision to join?

A.        Yes

 

Q.        May I attend Leadership Sessions if I am not a leader?

A.        All members are invited to attend the Leadership sessions.  The information is relevant to any member who desires to learn to show himself approved before God.

 

Q.        I do not have transportation, who should I contact?

A.        Call the Church Office at (336) 724-3857 a day prior to the activity of Worship Services to arrange transportation.
